I finished Flight last week. I read Bad Company by Jack Higgins. That guy does almost no characterization; it's all plot and action. I finished Day of Atonement by Faye Kellerman yesterday and started reading The Little Friend by Donna Tartt. Also Monday night, we watched Once Upon a Time in Mexico which was pretty good.

I finished The Big Bad Wolf last night and started reading Blow Fly by Patricia Cornwell. It has been a while since I've read one of these Scarpetta books so I sort of forgot what happened in the last few. Uh yeah, I would say that they were forgettable!

CSI was pretty good last night. Also this morning, they played the Buffy dream episode of season 4 which was really cool to see again. I have to say that no matter how many times I see that episode, I find more interesting things in it.

I finished Bare Bones yesterday and started reading The Big Bad Wolf by James Patterson last night. I am going to read the new Kay Scarpetta book too, but I didn't want to read it back to back with Bare Bones because that was also about a woman who studies corpses to solve mysteries.

Woah, I guess I haven't posted in a while. Anyway, my book total for last year was 153, in case you are interested. I finished Sophie's World and read Blood Canticle by Ann Rice at the end of last year. This year so far I've been reading the three most recent mysteries by Diane Mott Davidson and am finishing up Chopping Spree.

We saw Return of the King over break. It was great. Also I watched the first 3 disks of the Firefly series by the creator of Buffy. Oh and I think I watched other stuff but now I'm spacing out on it.

I finished reading The Curious Incident of the Dog at Night-time over the weekend. I started reading Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder, at about page 100 now. We watched All That Jazz on DVD last night.

I finished Prime Cut finally yesterday. I started reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon today. It's really good. We watched The Pirates of the Carribbean this week and it was great. Thankfully there is plenty of time coming up for me to do a lot of reading and movie-watching.

Right now, I'm drinking this African Red Bush tea which is the kind of tea they drink in the Number One Ladies' Detective Agency series. It's pretty good.

I read a lot on Saturday. I read this book called The Program but I don't remember the author. I read a great book called Replay by Ken Grimwood which I highly recommend. Also I read Kaaterskill Falls by Allegra Goodman. Yesterday I read Felicia's Journey by William Trevor. I brought Split Second by David Baldacci to start today. I think that since the end of the year is coming, I'm trying to read as many books as possible to raise my total.

We watched this odd documentary called Cinemania on Sunday night. Last night we watched Papillion which was really good. As well, I saw Charlie's Angels Full Throttle on the plane Saturday night. I stand by my previous opinion that it's a fairly shallow movie but somewhat entertaining.

I finished the Faye Kellerman book on Friday night. I read the book Mystic River that the movie is based on on Saturday. I also read a book called No One to Trust by Iris Johansen Saturday, but didn't finish it until Sunday. I started The Main Corpse by Diane Mott Davidson yesterday and am still reading it. I really like being on vacation and actually having time to read.

I finished The Machine Crusade Tuesday night. Yesterday I read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson. Today I brought a Faye Kellerman book to start reading. I'm going on vacation on Saturday so I will just be bringing paperbacks in the interest of not dragging a bunch of crap around.

So, have you been watching Angel? It's pretty much the only thing getting me through this Buffyless fall, but I still feel like I don't totally get the show. I only started watching it last spring. Oh and I think I watched the one or two crossover episodes that they did when Buffy and Angel were on the same network.

I am reading The Machine Crusade which is the latest supposed Dune book. It's actually pretty good. But long. I think it's even more entertaining than The Butlerian Jihad which in turn was better than the three House books. I think that these books are interesting when they invent new stuff and new characters and it isn't just a huge rip-off of the original Dune.

I am reading The Trial now. It's pretty quick reading. I don't know if I'll get a chance to read Fear and Loathing. I really have so many other books to read. And I just realized that Stephen King's new Dark Tower book is out! I guess I missed the exact date. I was sort of shopping around to see if it would be much cheaper at Costco than Amazon or Barnes and Noble but it seems to be about the same everywhere.

I finished Final Diagnosis yesterday. I started Mind Changer by James White also. I got a ton of books in the last week; they had a book sale here. I also got The Da Vinci Code at Costco because someone recommended it to me. I was just starting to clear up room on my bookshelf and now I put new books there. I could feel like I'm not making enough progress, but then again, it's cool to have more stuff to read.

We watched Kill Bill vol 1 last night. These stupid people brought little kids to the theater, and the young one was freaking out about the lights being out. I think they went away before things got super bloody, but it was just stupid to bring kids that young to the theater.

I finished The Paths of the Dead over the weekend. It was really good. I started reading The Emperor of Ocean Park yesterday. It's the first book I've read in a while that is both engrossing but a slower read. I don't know if the pages are just full of words or what. In any case, I doubt I'll finish it by today but I'm glad I'm reading it.

We saw Desperado over the weekend. Hopefully when money comes in, we'll go see Once Upon A Time in Mexico.

I have a bit to catch up on. The Robert B. Parker book I read last week was Perish Twice. Then I read The Sailor Who Fell From the Sea by Yukio Mishima. That was a weird one, sort of a cross between Catcher in the Rye and Lord of the Flies. Friday I read Code to Zero by Ken Follett. It was one of his better ones. I started Family Honor by Robert B. Parker but haven't finished that yet.

We saw El Mariachi on DVD and Ripley's Game on cable Saturday night. Sunday we saw Lost in Translation which is as good as the reviews say. Also we saw the premiere of Survivor on Thursday night.

I finished If on a winter's night a traveler over the weekend. I did like it though it seemed more an exercise in Deconstruction than a real novel. I finished The Anvil of the World by Kage Baker yesterday. I brought a Robert Parker book to start today.

I saw Six Degrees of Separation over the weekend. Why does the idea of Will Smith playing a gay hustler amuse me so much? He was actually really good. Last night I watched most of Platoon. It was cool seeing Willem Dafoe playing a good guy for once.

I watched Va Savoir Friday night. It was really good. I don't remember initially why I rented it; I think I read a really good review of it somewhere. Last night, we watched My First Mister which was good, though pretty odd, and I felt like the ending was a bit of a cop-out.

I finished To the Nines last night. I have to say that it seems like Evanovich has sort of run this series to the ground. Maybe she needs to add some new characters (or get rid of some of the dumb ones). It seems like it's just the same crap in every book. She even has the characters going to Las Vegas and that fails to make it interesting.

We watched this movie called The Spikes Gang last night. My boyfriend had some nostalgic memories of this movie being much more entertaining than it was. It was sort of like a gory after school special.

I finished The Crimson Petal and the White on Friday. I also read Le Divorce over the weekend. I was thinking that I might see the movie but I heard it was dumb. I don't actually think it would make a good movie. Right now, I'm reading To the Nines by Janet Evanovich.

We watched Catch Me If You Can on DVD over the weekend. It was actually a really interesting movie. Also we saw American Splendor yesterday and that was really good too. Finally some good movies are coming out after all the junk that has been playing this summer.

I am trying to remember what else I read since Thursday. I did read Goodnight, Irene by Jan Burke over the weekend. She is a good writer but Nine was a better book. I read Hoare and the Matter of Treason by Wilder Perkins. And on Sunday, I started reading The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber. The first chapter was really irritating me with this sort of weird narration that seemed too cute to me. But then I have enjoyed the rest of the book so far. It's a 800 page book and I'm at page 200.

We watched Seven Samurai over the weekend, and watched Cutter's Way last night.

I finished Snagged and started reading The House on the Strand by Daphne DuMaurier. It's a weird one. I really do think that Rebecca was probably her best book (and I think most successful). This one is about drugs, time travel, and marital problems. Woohoo.

Oh, we saw Tomb Raider 2 on Wednesday. It was entertaining but my boyfriend and I both think that Lara Croft is a sociopath.

We watched Solaris over the weekend. I remember reading something about this movie that made it sound more interesting than it was. Still, it did feature a nude George Clooney. That's not something you see every day.

Then I read The Only Girl in the Car by Kathy Dobie over the weekend. Monday, I read Decked by Carol Higgins Clark. Then Tuesday and Wednesday, I read The Treasure of Montsegur by Sophy Burnham. Right now, I started Ancient Ones by Kirk Mitchell. I guess I've had more time to read than post.

Also, we saw Spy Kids 3-D over the weekend. The 3-D concept is pretty lost on me, as I seem to get nauseated staring at the screen with those glasses on. I took them off about halfway through. Also, we talked about seeing Tomb Raider 2 but didn't get around to it.

Still reading The Virgin Blue. Last night, I watched this TV show on Bravo called The Queer Eye for the Straight Guy that was really entertaining. On the show, these 5 gay guys made over this straight guy. They fixed his apartment up and helped him get a haircut and new clothes. It was pretty entertaining.

I finished Mortals. It was really good but not as good as Mating. I found myself reading really quickly to find out how it ends. I started reading The Virgin Blue by Tracy Chevalier. I thought this was a new novel by her, but it's actually her first book that wasn't published in the US before.

I saw Silkwood over the weekend. I remember seeing commercials for it when I was a kid and thinking it was going to be really scary, but it wasn't. For an Oscar winning film (I think), it didn't really have as much impact as it could of. I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it just seemed to me like they were skipping over some stuff. It also would have been better if they had actually said that some people did get cancer instead of just hinting at it.

I finished The Survivor's Club over the holiday. I also read Death of an Expert Witness by P.D. James. Right now, I am reading Mortals by Norman Rush. Only on page 30 but it's really good.

We saw Terminator 3 on Thursday. It was actually very good, the action moved at a really good pace and I never felt like the movie lagged in the middle like some. Also saw Casino on DVD, it was really good as well. But I don't really buy DeNiro as being Jewish.

I finally finished So Many Books, So Little Time today. I was really trying to finish it by the end of the month. Also I read this book, The Sacrifice of Tamar by Naomi Ragen, over the weekend. Right now I just started The Survivors Club by Lisa Gardner.

We saw the new Charlie's Angels movie on Saturday. It was entertaining but the whole thing seemed like a long music video with minimal plot and loud music.

I started reading this book called So Many Books, So Little Time by Sara Nelson. I actually got this book free in the mail from the publisher. It's pretty interesting so far, this woman writing about all the books she reads or wants to read in a year.

I finished reading Lost Light last night. It was really good though it seems from the ending that there won't be any more Heironymous Bosch novels anymore. But I felt that way after I read the last one, I think City of Bones, and sure enough there was one after that. I don't think that Connelly is going to kill the golden calf, or whatever that metaphor is.

We saw The Hulk in the theater last night. It actually was surprisingly good. I know that the Hulk looks kind of cheesy and cartoonish when you see the ads on TV, but he looks very realistic on the big screen. And Jennifer Connelly finally did something with her eyebrows, though they are still a bit too thick for my taste.

Reading Lost Light. I have to say that even though Heironymous Bosch himself is a little bit tedious, this book isn't. One thing I really like is how Connelly captures a lot of LA landmarks in the background. I only have about 100 pages left in this book.

Still reading Five Hundred Years After. I think I have over 100 pages to go. Sheesh. Then again, I did read all 870 pages of Harry Potter 5 in one day, so a measly one hundred pages should snap out pretty easily.

Harry Potter ended up arriving around 2 PM. Damn FedEx. But I did spend the entire day reading it, and yes, I did read it all in one day. I still have about 100 pages of Five Hundred Years After to go, and then I will be reading Lost Light by Michael Connelly which I got at the library this past week.

I think the new Harry Potter book was really good. It was a little wordy but there were a lot of emotionally touching moments where I was either laughing or crying. I highly recommend it.

I just got digital cable installed at home so I now have a lot more channels. So I will probably be watching more movies on TV.

While on Caltrain, I read My Gal Sunday by Mary Higgins Clark and started Among the Believers by V.S. Naipaul.

This morning, I was watching the episode of Buffy with Dracula from the 5th season, and I realized that the events of the 5th season really did not totally come to fruition until season 7. When watching old episodes, and knowing how the show came out, it appears like there was a master plan throughout the series run.

I finally ordered Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Trying to figure out the shipping options at Amazon was weird, but I picked the cheapest and it seems like that will arrive at the same date as the most expensive. Wacky. I guess they will ship it before it publishes? I remember ordering the fourth book and they automatically upgraded to FedEx so it would come the same time as the book was published. Way cool. I know what I'm doing that weekend now, ha ha.

Wow, a lot to post. I finished The Golden Apples of the Sun and read the first three books by Alexander McCall Smith in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series. The fourth book is still in hardcover and I have it on reserve at the library. I read some random book called The President's Daughter that the woman who gives me junky fiction at work loaned me.

We saw Bruce Almighty on Friday night. I watched 3 DVDs over the weekend as well. I saw Nightmare Before Christmas, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and Signs. When I went to Disneyland last year, they decorated the Haunted Mansion with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme, so it was cool to actually see the movie to get what that was about. Signs was surprisingly good. I had had Y Tu Mama Tambien out since March so it was good to finally get around to seeing it.

We saw X-Men2 over the weekend, saw The Matrix Reloaded on Monday. I finished reading The Cunning Man finally, and read this vampire thing called Cold Streets by P.N. Elrod. Now I'm reading The Golden Apples of the Sun by Ray Bradbury which is a book of short stories. I'm going on vacation, so I'm not sure what all I will read while traveling. Books that aren't too heavy, I guess.

Right now I'm reading Ironweed by William Kennedy. I just have to say that reading about homeless people is pretty depressing, though it does seem like a more realistic view of them than some things. However I remember hearing that 1/3 of homeless people are schitzophrenic, and thus far have not encountered anyone like that in this book.

I didn't read any books over the weekend, but we saw Spirited Away on Saturday night. It was really good. Finally I am watching DVDs. I've had two DVDs for over a month, should try to get to them this week.

I started The King of Torts by John Grisham on Thursday and finished it on Friday. It seems like he's not really trying as hard, you know. None of the characters, even the protagonist, were fleshed out very well. I guess if you have a million dollar name, you don't need to try to put anything behind it.l

We saw this movie The Horse's Mouth last night. I wasn't feeling great anyway, very tired, and found it somewhat tedious. My boyfriend had watched it a long time ago and really liked it, but didn't like it as much on a second viewing.

Still working on The Shopaholic Ties the Knot, but surely will finish it today.

I'm kind of depressed that this is the last season of Buffy and it seems to be going so weirdly. Maybe it's better that it ends because of the weirdness and the character devolution. But it's still going to leave a gaping hole in the TV schedule.

I finished The Bulterian Jihad over the weekend and started The Shopaholic Ties the Knot, which is quick reading. We saw Identity on Friday. I thought it was good, though sadly I felt like I figured out the "big twist" too early and it sort of made the rest of the movie less exciting. I also watched the original Get Carter on DVD. No, not going to go out and get the remake with Sylvester Stallone.

Right now, I'm reading Black Projects, White Knights by Kage Baker. This book is a lot of short stories. I didn't actually do a lot of reading over the weekend. I also got The Butlerian Jihad by Frank Herbert's son from the library, so I'll probably read that next.

I'm still reading The Pillow Book of Lady Wisteria, but am more than halfway done. I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to read next. I have a lot of books sitting around that I should get to.

Last night's Buffy was pretty disturbing towards the end. I can't believe that so many people got injured, including a major character. Then again, this season began with Willow getting her skin eaten by a demon. I'm trying to figure out which characters are going to survive.

I finished the first four Kage Baker books. The fifth one, which is short stories, is available at the library. Right now I'm reading The Pillow Book of Lady Wisteria by Laura Joh Rowland. I read the rest of these books in the series last year, but this one just came out in paperback. Didn't watch any new movies over the weekend.

I finished Whirlwind on Tuesday. I started reading these SF books by Kage Baker. I read In the Garden of Iden yesterday and started reading Sky Coyote last night. I have another hardcover with two of her other books which I'll be reading next.

I'm past page 1000 of Whirlwind right now, only about 200 pages to go. Finally, I feel like I've been reading this book for a long time.

We watched Far From Heaven over the weekend. It was pretty good but not the best picture of last year.
